People Care 4 Day Care Announces Children's Book Drive

ALAMEDA, CA -- People Care 4 Day Care, Inc. (PC4DC) will be holding its 2007 Children's Book Drive during the month of November. Please drop off your gently used children's books (suitable for reading to preschool-age children) during business hours Tuesday through Saturday during the month at

The Alameda-based nonprofit will redistribute the books to local licensed day care centers.

PC4DC Executive Director Ralph Zig Tyko says, "This is the perfect time to pass along your children's love of books to other children. As well as providing day care opportunities for children who currently do not have that opportunity, PC4DC remains firmly committed to enhancing the day care experience for all children with programs and materials. Books and reading programs are integral to our goals."

Teens Donate Saturdays to Help Local Kids

ALAMEDA, CA -- Two B.A.S.E. School students, Phillip Tyko and Daniel Palmer, are among the teens who have kicked off a volunteer effort on the part of area students to support local day care centers. The teens are part of a fund-raising drive for People Care 4 Day Care, Inc., an Alameda-based non-profit organization.

The mission of People Care 4 Day Care (PC4DC) is to provide licensed day centers with tools and services to prepare children for school. Funds raised through ongoing and annual giving programs, as well as one-time donations, are used to buy books, provide reading programs, and activities, and fund a voucher program for local families who require financial assistance to provide day care for their children. Funds raised support PC4DC's efforts in the county and city where they are received.

Stop, look, and listen

Stop to think about the important role day care programs play in preparing our children for school.

Look for area students who will be ringing your doorbell to tell you about PC4DC and asking for your support.

Listen for the phone, and when the fund-raiser calls, make your pledge to help our local kids.

ALAMEDA, CA -- People Care 4 Day Care, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing and enriching the day care experience for children, has recently been launched by longtime Alameda resident Ralph Zig Tyko. Working with established local day care centers, the organization plans to fund tutorial programs, buy equipment, and provide financial assistance for families who need day care.

The group’s mission includes instilling positive life patterns and providing strong role models for young children, based on non-violence, anger management, negotiation skills and self worth, and building sound educational and social foundations. People Care 4 Day Care plans to achieve these goals through funding positive activities such as music, sports, and self-defense training, as well as providing tutoring, emergency health and dental care, and reading programs through day care centers. They also plan to provide books, and sports and play equipment to qualified day care programs.

One way to staff these programs, says creative thinking Tyko, is to organize volunteers from the senior citizen community as well as other local volunteers to help enrich the childcare experience from all points of view. Funding for the organization’s goals will come primarily from donations by both business organizations and individuals. People Care 4 Day Care plans to keep monies separated by county, as well.

People Care 4 Day Care relies heavily on the advice of its local board of advisors to assure that the community comes first and is well served. The organization also has a board of directors whose backgrounds and communities reflect the diversity of the Bay Area. They look forward to making a difference to children and to the parents for whom day care is a necessity.
